The following details have been gathered from Chinese social media, including sources such as self-proclaimed friends of the missing diver, nearby divers, and friends from the dive shop involved in the recovery operation. However, it’s important to note that there may be some misinformation or fabricated content from attention-seeking trolls:
The diver is not a technical diver but a recreational dive master (DM) who has only recently obtained her certification.
The diver was known for frequently diving to deeper depths with an air tank, indicating a tendency for risky behavior.
During the safety stop, the diver noticed that her camera had fallen and decided to go back to retrieve it. The dive guide accompanied the diver during the descent, and they recovered the camera at a depth of no more than 30 meters.
Afterward, they encountered a thresher shark, and the diver continued filming. The dive guide’s air supply was running low, and after communicating with the diver, the dive guide began ascending. However, the missing diver did not resurface. The body was finally found at a depth of approximately 80-90 meters.
It’s believed that the location where the incident occurred had no or mild current, as the body was found not far from the spot where the diver was last seen.
The missing camera was never recovered. Any images circulating online claiming to show the diver’s final moments are fabricated.
The footage of strong currents circulating online was filmed during a dive near Nusa Lembongan, unrelated to this incident.
Due to the dive shop's statement and at the family's request, further details regarding the incident have not been made public.
Therefore, most of the information circulating online is fragmented and its authenticity remains uncertain.
