I purchased from our local Play-It-Again Sports store the plastic Seatec backpack my girls used. $10 or $15, iirc. I had some unused nylon harness webbing and a plastic buckle and drafted them into use. I searched local a bit for a U.S. Divers plastic backpack (like I was taught on), but eventually gave up the search and purchased the Seatec.Randy has the perfect plastic plate ...
I own only steel cylinders, so I would rent a Luxfer Al 63 at first for my girls to use. After a couple of summers, they would use one of my OMS (Faber) LP 45's, instead.
One thing: From the very beginning I had them practicing in-water doffing and donning--just in case they would ever need to!
