James,

I am still investigating options for you as well...I'll check on this one too.

Don't go to too much trouble Christi. I was just asking if you knew of anyone as my wife would be more comfortable going with someone you knew than having someone random though the hotel. Esp considering the hotel will have only been open for less than 2 months so they probably won't have providers they have a "history" with and know to be trustworthy.

I like the idea of a place like this better than having someone just come to our hotel room and I've both Cozumel Villas and Cozumel Vacation Rentals seem to be promoting her. Unfortunatly, both email address from both pages have bounced back.

Found out today that this service is no longer being offered :(. Too bad, it sounded great. I wonder if this is a victim of Wilma...

hi--I also had the emails bounce today. We are planning a trip with our 1 year old in april, and any suggestions for non-hotel childcare options would be great. I thinkwe'll be at one of the b&b's--last time was the summer place, but that was pre-child.

Hi Jim

Our observations at the Occidental Grand indicated a marvelous relationship between the children and their Mayan nannies. This was at the beach dining facility. We thought this was incredible since the new staff was on the job for less than one week. Our vacation, as you might recall was Feb.8-15 2006.

We have noticed this same relationship between the children and their nannies at the Allego for the last 12 years.

Hope you solve your problem!

You're going to leave a 1 year-old with strangers - in Mexico?

Can you explain the differences between Mexico and any other country as it relates to childcare/daycare/babysitting?

Is there something special I should be looking out for in Mexico...is it a 3rd world country with no laws? Is the law inefective in Mexico? What is it about Mexico in particular that makes it a bad place to use babysitting services?

Well, it worked in Paris over Christmas!

My wife grew up in latin america and does not fear Mexicans. And the one year old in question spends his day with a Mexican, a Kenyan, and a Lao currently. His language abiltity will put mine to shame.

And, of course, the point of posting on the board is to try and find childcare other divers have used previously to lessen the chance of ending up with someone completely unknown. You know--we are looking for referrals. If we can convince my mom to come, so much the better.

So if you have a nanny you can recommend....
