I haven't been to Pearl since early last year, but it has always reminded me of diving in skim milk. There has been a consistent hazy vis every time I've been there.

Rentals are at both places, and they supply air, but call ahead. You should call ahead anyway to make a reservation.

I think I may go check it out, if I can find someone to go with. It's a little closer than Haigh, although I have no problem driving down there either. Can you rent tanks at both? I have all my own gear, minus a tank.

Have you been to Pearl Lake? What's that place like?
Boring, but better than nothing.

Hey guys! I shall be certified in August 21st! I know my Profile says cert... but I just would never get around to change it later :pMy girlfriend is a bit scared of it and she wanted to put it off.. ugh :p. I looked into alot of sites and I noticed Wisconsin has alot of dive sites. Has anyone been to Lake Wazee? If not Would you guys want to schedual a trip out there for September 5th (labor day)? I would love to do some diving with folks around me :).

Wazee is a great quarry - lots of water means better than average visibility and it's a favorite training spot, especially for technical divers who travel long distances to take advantage of the deep water.

I'm otherwise committed on Labor Day but between this board and D2D you might be able to get a group together.

I have been to Pearl the last two weekends for Open Water classes. The vis is bad, but it was better this weekend than last. This is not due to lots of students either, as there aren't too many people out there. From what I hear, Haigh is not much better, lately. We chose Pearl vs. Haigh for OW classes, because you can stake out a platform and don't have to share. Also, there is entry around the whole lake. Everyone isn't converging on one entry/exit point. For just fun diving, I do prefer Haigh, but Pearl is OK if I am looking to do compass work.

Just go dive!

That's not a bad idea at all, but I think I will be having a hard time running this one by the wife, as she has us otherwise occupied for this Labor Day. Any other weekends that might work?

Ummm, sure. Just pick one. It would need to be a bit in advance (about 2 weeks at least) since I would need to put in time off request... darn part time jobs. But sure, pick a weekend and maybe we can get more people to go with as well. What about either the september 10th or 11th or both? I could shoot for August 27th or 28th as well.
