Happy Chanukkah!!

חג שמח לכולם

I am going to go play with my dreidels now...

and chomp on some levivot (you ashkenazim call them Latkes... also the name of my dog...)

I LOVE Latkes. Happy Chanukkah to you too.

Chag Samach. now is it right to left or left to right? and is that for putting them in?, or Lighting them??

Just kidding, it is impossible to remember

actually, that was a VERY debated issued between Hillel and Shamai, I think the only one that Shammai won.

and you know what?

I can't remember. :lol2: Our tradition, however, is to put them in right to left (right side, first candle.), and light them left to right.

although, all of our driedels have nun, gimmel, hay, and pay on them.... since we baught all of our dreidels in israel.

Don't you light the "newest" ner first? I do.

Hillel won this one, too. Shammai wanted to start with eight licht on the first night and decrease one each night. We follow Hillel, who starts with one and adds one each night. Both Rabbis Kitov and Donin write about this.

Happy Chanukkah to everyone again!
