Myself and 6 friends just got back from Bonaire. We stayed in Hamlet (Bonaire Sunset Villa) and the location was perfect.
2 friends and I have a bunch of airline points to burn off. So we're going back. But, without wives and girlfriends, we don't need a big place on the water.

What we've found so far is $175 for diving, $456 for the stay(1 minute or less from Hamlet), and about $184 each to rent a diesel 4x4 suv.

My question is this:

Are there any cheaper places than $456 total for the week that are clean and as close to a dive shop, store, restaurant, etc?

Thanks!

That sounds hard to beat.

What time of year are you planning?

Also consider that - if cheap is the key - that a few bucks more for something with a kitchen and/or breakfast buffet might net out to being cheaper from a breakfast/lunch standpoint.

First week of December. The apartment we're looking at has a complete kitchen, but all we need is a refrigerator for Crab Dip and Paturain. Lol

I like the Dive Hut. Very inexpensive - around $75.00/night. Super basic. Good for middle aged men or younger. Very, very modest accomodations. Just a very basic place to start and end your dive day - simple rooms, small bathrooms, AC,decent beds, cheap TV, mini fridge. Family run. Nice little bar. Breakfast available in the mornings. Specialty catered BBQ nights once a week and other food nights. Ample parking for your pickup. Tanks on-site and replenished daily by Wannadive. Big rinse tanks. Nicely ventilated and secure room with lots of hanger space for your gear to dry. Stone's throw from the waterfront strip. Killer pizza joint 5 min. walk away. I've stayed there 3 times and am back Feb 4th.

no, unless you want to walk about and sleep on the street.

it's a vacation. enjoy yourself, spend your money.

maybe you have it backwards? i work hard and go cheap at home so i can spend more when on vacation...

giffenk: " i work hard and go cheap at home so i can spend more when on vacation..."

I am quite the opposite.

Spending little time inside the actual accomomodations while away, I tend to go cheap, but often.

When home, I try to work as little as possible to live in as much comfort and opulence as possible.

No need to spend extra money, so I try to not spend it. The 3 of us who are going are the type to be gone by 7 am , MAYBE stop back by to grab a sandwich, and be gone diving into 9 or 10pm. Getting a really nice place would be a waste. Although, this place appears to extremely nice for the money.

Your place is $456 for the stay for the week total to split among the four people ($114 each)? I can't imagine you'd find anywhere cheaper for four people that isn't a hostel.

3, it's always worth checking.
