Selling my Hi8 video setup to invest in other gear. Items as follows:

Ikelite Housing # 6035.35
Ikelite Blue water filter
Sony Blue water filter

Sony TRV-510 Hi8 video camera
Sony Camera and Camcorder Review
2 Sony high capacity Lithium NP-F750 batteries
Sony automatic charger
Firewire download cable
6 unopened TDK 120 min Hi8 tapes

This setup has never let me down. Never had a drop of water in it. It takes great Hi8 video both on the surface and underwater. The housing is in great shape with the usual minor scuff here and there from normal use. The lenses are perfect.

The video from my A570is is reasonable. And with the high compression recording you can do with CDHK programing I can get plenty of duration.

That said, I am building (actually have built, but not tested) a new UW housing for a JVC ms130. (they had the best low lux video of any of the cheap camcorders, but it's not HD). I'll provide a better writeup after I test it out. But basically it involved taking a 3" PVC compression coupling (this isn't something you can get at lowe's, you'll need to go to a real plumbing supply store, but it has straight threads, not tapered so it's better for using an o-ring) , slight modifications, lenses in both ends, and a single switch for start stop recording. Then I added a breakdown handle for travel that will fit inside the empty housing. All together it should be easy to construct by an average person with basic tools. Anyway it should cost well under $100, and the camera was $300, so the total video package would be in the low budget category. I may add another $50 for a wide angle lens after I see whether I need it.

Edit: Didn't realize this was such an old thread...
