Chatterton/Kohler U-853 Trip Aboard SEEKER, Open Charter.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We are happy to announce that SEEKER's good friends Richie Kohler and John Chatterton will be aboard for a U-853 all day charter May 7th.

As we have limited spots available we will be offering them on a first come, first served basis.

Cost is the same as any U-853 trip, $125. To reserve a spot, mail a check to the address listed below. Full prepayment assures a spot. I will email confirmation of reservations as they arrive.

Call or email for details. Email is better as I am very busy with the boat right now.

Sounds like a great opportunity. I would love to meet them, but don't have the experience for a trip like that.

Are they filming for deep sea detectives? I would love to see a show on the U-853.

no its not a deep sea detectives trip there just comming diving with us.
there is no mystery to the sinking of the u-853 its history is well documented

That's cool. I thought there was some confusion as to whether they didn't receive word of the cease fire or they went rogue. Guess there is no way to figure that out though...now that I think about it.

well.
everyone knew that the war was winding down and any day there would be word that the war was over.
also
we all know that u boat capts where a little nuts, and by the end of tha war thre chances of comming back where not in there favor.
but dive the blackpoint some day.. stand on the boat anl just look around
your between Block Island andPt. Judith and just a little to the north east is Castle Hill.
Back in the day Newport was the bigges destroyer bases on te east coats.
and often do exersizes in block island sound.
so here is the U-853 in destroyer central. the day after the war
and sinks the blackpoint.. in less than 100 feet of water. with no where to run no where to hids. and the US destroyer fleet sittin next door with loads of depthcharges and hedgehogs they didnt get to use.
i duuno. i kinda theing atleast the capt knew... and decided to go out with a bang.
but thats just my interpation.
in anycase, its there now and its a cool dive. you should put on your "to do "list of wrecks
