Now that just sucks! Sounds about like the luck I have with the trips through the LDS.

Yes it does - I was hoping to lose the ocean virgin status and become a real diver! Oh well, it gives me a reason to go back. I did get to burn a tank in my uncle's pool, though it wasn't quite the same since the odds of seeing a shark were slim to none.

well, the last weekend in October we usually go to Panama City, Destin or this year maybe Pensacola too - feel free to join us - from Indy PCB is a 12-13 hour drive - we drive overnight Wed, dive Thurs PM; Fri a 6 or 8 hour trip, and Sat a 4 hour or the Oriskany, then home

Typically DSIE, but with the start of Indy Dive Club, sponsored by DSIE, we have tried to make it a club trip - haven't started putting it together yet, but it is time again, however, I want to look into the Oriskany as a Sat dive, but need to see how far from Destin that is

our captain we used in PCB has sold the boat and I have no affinity for any of the shops there at this point, so I am looking into Destin, both because it's a new area for us, but also it's closer to Pensacola thereby making a dash for a Mighty O dive closer if it's doable

The package we put together typically includes boat fees, air/nitrox fills, lodging (2 per room), continental breakfast/lunch makings, water, snacks, soft drinks, a cookout Thurs night; options include a night dive Friday, or a night of a nice meal followed by camaraderie and general socialization (one year we played miniature golf, then euchre til the wee hours) - divers get their on their own, in pairs, threes, fours etc - some leave Wed early, some leave after work, some go Monday and veg a couple days etc

Sounds like it's time that I get off my butt and join the IDC. I'm surprised that DSIE doesn't "sell" it more. I've been in the shop multiple times over the past 2-3 months and haven't seen any posted advertisements nor has Bob or Jimmie mentioned it. I did hear about it from another SBer though. I think I'll sign up the next time I'm in the shop.

AWESOME!!!! there should be fliers at both stores, in fact Mike Toffolo who coordinates the club was in today and had the fliers with the schedule thru Dec - in fact next Wed at 1 they are taking a tour of the Ikelite plant

Thanks for the invite, Hobster!! I will think about it and see where family matters stand a little closer to October. Almost had a trip that direction a couple of times last year but they never panned out either.

I'm thinking of making a trip to PCB in late October or early November. Possibly we could meet at Falling Rock and get acquainted and get you prepped for some ocean diving. I've still got 3 or 4 weeks before I can free to dive but its something to think about.
