Hello,
I am a former SoCal Diver back in the 80's. I moved to Seattle and dive regularly here, but I want to tow the boat down to Cali for a week of diving with my son the first week of April. I remember some great diving off Santa Cruz and Anacapa and was hoping for some recommendations as that was so long ago I have long since forgotten the sites that I went to. Yellowbanks rings a bell to me and I dove a cave in the preserve off Anacapa that was loaded with lobster and you surfaced inside a grotto. I would appreciate some advice on these or any other sites you guys might suggest. I am interested in photography and showing my son some of the great diving that I grew up on. I plan on camping on shore and taking the boat out each day. Any advice would be great. Thanks in advance.

Here's a couple of good spots, Gold Fish Bowl, Underwater Island & The Channels. I don't have GPS coordinates but they should be easy to get. Those are all on Anacapa. Almost all the spots on both islands are good but there are some areas you can't dive on so you'd be wise to check it all out first. Have fun it should turn out to be a great time.

ha ha, goldfish bowl is one of my least favorite dive sites of all time.

calboatdiving.com has a good map of santa cruz/anacapa showing the dive sites:

just click on the individual islands...

hope this helps

Well we had a good time there, anyway I checked out the link & it came out fussy & hard to read. Hey you missed a good Wrinkles.

If you tie up anywhere off Anacapa in 50 - 60 ft. with minimal current and swim toward the island and drop in 30 to 40 ft. you will have between pretty good and great diving. Over by the landing (landing cove, below the crane) is a preserve - very nice. On the backside Underwater Arch, Underwater Island, Cat Rock, and the Channels are nice sites. Maybe one of Franco's maps will be useful.

Thanks a lot for the feed back and the links. It was a little fuzzy for me also. Much appreciated.
