I am heading out to Santa Cruz in the morning--Sunday, June 22. I hear tell of Yellow Tail being sighted? Anyone else hear that, and if so, where might they be? Also, visability report would be cool. Thanks,

Well, if you only consider the northern islands to be THE Channel Islands, I can't say anything. However, there are eight of them in all... including the four southern Channel Islands where Catalina is. Yellowtail and white sea bass are being taken here.

Thanks for the response. And you are right, I should be more clear as to "which" islands I reference--i.e., Northern Islands, since I live in Lompoc. As it turned out the weather was so bad, I decided not to cross the channel, but went up to Naples Reef instead. The ocean was rocking, the vis was 10 - 15 feet, the water temp was 60 at depth and I saw lots of critters and fish.

Yes, I periodically go to Ron's dive shop in Lompoc. He is open only three days a week, so it it hard to work it in my schedule usually. That said, he is a good guy and I do try to support his shop as best I can. He is a good resource for Northern Channel Island conditions and hunting reports. But again, he is only open three days a week. I don't blame him, Lompoc isn't really big enough to support a full time shop. Bruce
