The DM sent the entire boat the wrong way on our last dive. If we had followed his instructions , we would have ended up at 70' in the sand the opposite direction of the dive sight on a third dive that was supposed to be shallow.

Thanks for reminding me, this happened 2 trips ago. First dive he told us where the reef was, followed his directions and ended up in 80fsw and sand. Next 2 dives we did the opposite of what he said and landed right on the reefs. 4th was the throw away dive I mentioned before in 20fsw of nothing but sand.

Empty V and Dashark,
Man your Explorer experience was atypical. Ive been on many Explorer trips. The only weak trips were when the boat was mainly folks getting their OW certs and the dive shop that had the boat locked up needed certain conditions for that special event. I've never missed a 4th dive, and the only time I had the crew stick to the same spot was during weather conditions where the island offered only good diving in sheltered spots.
As for the surly crew, I've only seen a small demo of attitude once, he deserved it.
You don't have a DIVA not a diver attitude do you?
The food thing, well that is a unique experience for you in my many Explorer experiences.
This isn't some sort of " I love the Peace boat" let me bash the competition is it?
As for your reference to the Spectre as a human anatomical object, well that is so adolescent that it deserves noreply.
Da Shark, the Dive master on Explorer is also on the Peace and his wife is also a Peace dive master. Chill boys. I know too many happy Explorer customers from different dive shops to make your comments more than spurious noise.
I like the boat, and love the crew.

Sounds like you may need to chill, my friend. We were mearly offering our experiences on the Spectre, not taking pokes at the other posters. As far as being a diva: If a safe , curtious dive operation is for divas, then I guess I am.
And as far as my motives, I am not here to bash the competition. I have used these forms countless time to improve my experiences in areas I am unfamiliar with. My only motive when offering my opinion is to try and give the same back to others.
I don't know who the DM was the day i am referring to,but, I have never seen him on the Peace. Do you think there is only one DM up here or something?
I think it is great that others have had good experiences on the Spectre. I hope they continue and all your dives are safe ones.

Whoops! I should get some rest before posting next time. Sorry! You are right on all counts.
I am lower than a sea cucumber. My apologies.
All my dives on the Specter were memorable. No problems!
I guess that my affinity for the Explorer was paramount on my mind.
Be safe! Have big fun!
Aloha

I've never been on the Peace & had 4 dives.

John

Have you only been on it for weekday trips? During the week they run 3 dives, Sat and Sun they do 4 and 5-6 for multi day trips.. Wait a minute, when we did our ReefCheck checkout dives we did 4 in one day and I've got the video to prove it! Didn't you also do the night dive which would make 5? :rofl3: But I guess you're not seen in it so it's not concrete proof. :D
