Its all good. If you dish it, you gotta be able to take it. Bring it.
I Chay-Day on the Pac Star - where boat do you guys go on?

Ken

....
Down at 66 fsw I was very glad I wasn't a squid girl...those tentacled boys lack a little gentility and finesse. Good to have 7mm neoprene between me and them, plus the whole sex and mortality thing puts a big downer spin on the party.

So...Pac Star, eh? Haven't signed up anywhere yet....am waiting to hear back from dive buds before picking a boat. Sure would be a convenient location to Hermosa!!

I love reading your creative rants...keep those embers smoldering, puffMo2!

Mo2vation:
I try to never miss it. Although I liked the shirt design of 2003 much better than the 2004 shirt. This year's shirt looks like it will be great, with the Catalina Tile motiff.

---
Ken

Agreed. I think I heard at the Avalon Cleanup that the 2005 tile design is by the same person who did the 2003 logos...I don't remember the name, though.

We will be able to go out on Chamber Day. With it being a Wednesday there s only a slight chance I will have to work.

We will try to signup for the Pacific Star or Aquatica more than likely.

Signed up and requested the Pacific Star...see you there, Ken!
Do I get to learn that patented top-deck, back-flip entry?? Does PADI have a certification for that one? Do the DMs just sit in the galley and count the splashes??
Thanks, Ann Marie, for posting all the info for the day...Very Helpful!
Ciao,

We did a fourple at Cat - the Arnaud-friendly 10 am - 10pm trip. Very nice. The crossing was pretty rought (as in very) but I sleep... so its all lost on me. I come up when we get there and half the crew is green, the other half has eyes like those velvet paintings of those kids with the really big eyes...

The diving was swell. Got some bugs, saw some stuff, had a great time. I asked Big-Wave Dave is he was taking the Pac Star out for Chamber day - he said of course. So I told him I'd see him there.

I love that boat... they try harder than any boat in the fleet. They schlep your stuff from the parking lot to the boat to your bunk and back again at the end of the trip. There are always a couple of guys on the swim step when you come back (the easiest re-board in SoCal, IMO) with 2 hotwater showers right on the step (woo hoo!) to take off the chill and the salt.

The cook has been significantly upgraded (yeah!) and to get around that wacky rear-galley set up, they've started serving the guests - as in no standing in line! They have real flatware (not plastic) and they bus the tables when you're done...gotta love that, too. There is a DVD and TV in the Galley, with a Sony surround sound system (with Sub!) No soda machine on the boat - so if you got a Diet Pepsi fix, bring yuour own (they do have a raging ice machine!) if you have a Diet Coke fix, dive the Bottom Scratcher.... ;) I always bring a bigass insulated mug... fill it wif ice and rock on through the SI.

I can get a full 3000 fill (a real 3000... not dive boat 3000) and they offer PPB Nitrox with a real booster if you have an 02 clean tank (if you don't, Dave has some... if you ask.) This boat has the roomiest diving deck in the fleet (more open space than any other boat) and liberty and benches for all... The heads (2 of them) are accessed from INSIDE the galley, and both have real showers. All bunks are private (none of this wacky half-wall nonsense) and the camera / charger station is in the front of the bunkroom - so its protected, easy to get to (at the bottoom of the stairs) low traffic (read: safe), dry and very, very roomy.

PLUS: Dave is a sweet, sweet guy. No matter how bad things get, or how dicy things are, he is always, always positive. He's dived all these sites a zillion times... so he's not just a boat driver. He's a true diver and takes us to great sites - not the same ol' places. I throw mad love at this boat every chance I get.

OK - Plug for the Pac Star done. Dive it. You'll see the difference.

It'll be good to finally meet the famous Claudette. :10:

Ken,

I think Dave owes you a Farnsworth trip for this plug, send me the web link. I want in on this boat.

Hi Everyone,

I'm booking my reservation tomorrow on the Encore (for obvious reasons :07: ) and to be with beach divin' divas and my buds. I don't know if I will be a DM on a boat as of yet, but will make my contribution one way or another.

Those of you on the Pacific Star, my friend was the DM on that boat last year and had a great group. Not sure if he is assigned to the same boat or not. Will keep you posted.

If you can make it, plan on attending Chamber Evening. Great fun!!! I went last year, solo, and a wonderful time. Tons, and tons, and tons of awesome prizes! I may or may not be able to go this year, due to that I have my son. I may have him skip school for the day and go dive with me. :eyebrow:

Full disclosue: Thread hijack in progress, but it's fun!!:offtopic:

Ken,
The world is wonderfully smaller than we can usually believe. Carlos and I watched (..a little enviously...) as the Pac Star loaded and left Saturday morning while we geared up to kayak from the Harbor to Flat Rock and back. Who knew that the renowned Mo2vation was just meters away from us??? I'm glad to know that someone who I feel like I know had such a fun day of diving. Also great to hear that it is such an excellent boat and crew dedicated to great diving...YEA!!
Kayaking was spectacularly beautiful, but viz at the kelpbeds was perhaps 2 feet..ugh. Carlos set a kick-A return pace and we flew back, tired, happy, and satisfied. Can't wait to dive next weekend.
I wonder if we'll have more near-miss, almost-close-encounters before Chamber Day, Ken?
Like...maybe....the Wrinkles dive rave at Casino Point on March 12th??? No sand, all rocks, boat ride included!
Come on, you know you want to!!! I'll be wearing black neoprene and a tank...and diving with Christian. See you there?
Claudette

I now return you to your regularly scheduled thread: Chamber Day....

I shamelessly pimp the 'star cuz I really like these guys. I mean, they try so damn hard... I hope thet get the business to support it long term, you know? Plus they're only 10 miles from my place... much better than schlepping to LB or (gag) OCal....

No can do, hon. Gonna be diving San Nick this Sat. Wish I could be there, but another fourple calls. I'm sure Wrinkles won't be there, either.... :eyebrow:

As we were leaving the surf was pounding the wall - did you guys go outside to 'yak (brave) or did you stay inside where the sane people were paddling this weekend?

Detest soccer...hands resulted as effective evolution to the real world... use them, darn-it, and score some significant points! Grabbed "meters" because "feet" has only one syllable and the sentence didn't scan as well. Relationship is now either re-established or flushed:toilet ...your call

Double plus: PacStar is close enough to fling a cat from my window...well, a small cat..using a catapult... Definitely need to dive with them and support the fun.

You have to ask???? We rocked and rolled! Hollering joyfully around the end of the wall, we threaded 15 feet of plastic fantastic kayaks out to sea where they belong...what a ride!!! :jump: Only peddle-boats and toddlers stay in the harbor... Great big old rollers obscured the horizon repeatedly all the way to Flat Rock. Must have been the same ones turning half your boat-mates green! Nearly got picked off by an outside wave in the kelp beds... Great day for 'yakin'! (Of course, it was smaller than the evening before, when my stomach was fluttering as I rose quickly up the face of the 6 footers rolling in....)

"Chamber Day Thread hopelessly lost at sea....Film at 11!"
