So I've got a limited time frame. I am flying straight from Montreal to Jakarta ( 3 flights in a row).

Booked the aggressor boat (any insight?) that leaves on the 12th at 4pm (boards 1pm).

I get into CGK at midnight on the 11th I can fly to SOQ (1 stop) at 5:00am and get to SOQ at 4pm, OR I can spend the day in jakarta (been before i know it sucks) and flight out at midnight directly to SOQ on the 12th. get in at 6am on the 12th.

The second option sounds good but am I cutting it close? the first option makes it 5 flights to get there with no real breaks.

I've also been to Indo a bunch of times so i know flights don't always go as planned...

any insight is greatly appreciated.

Can you clarify a bit, I'm confused. I've got 9 hour layovers in CGK on both ends.

My Garuda flight from CGK to SOQ (1 stop at UPG) leaves at 2100 and gets in at 0630 the next morning. My boat leaves Sorong harbour at 0900 *shrug* If I make it I make it. Worst case scenario is that I change my flights and go dive somewhere else in Indo for a week. I'm not particularly concerned, Garuda is generally pretty reliable.

Did you already pay for the boat? Do you expect a full refund if you missed it? Garuda may be reliable but volcanoes are not predictable. I'm unsure though if the volcano at Lombok is going to spew so much ash that flights are rerouted and delayed further north of Kalimantan.

Cheers

Meh. I have travel insurance. If I miss the boat, I'll pay to go somewhere else and claim the money back for the Raja Ampat trip. I've missed flights in Indo and South America before due to volcanoes - I know my insurance covers it :)

At the moment Denpasar and Lombok airports are closed (there's a lot of peeved off Australians at the moment, because the low cost carriers here who fly to Bali are useless at communicating cancellations). Flights ex-CGK are still ok, because the transit is in Makassar, and the flight path avoids the currently affected area.

I think the majority of the LOBs in R4 fly their guests in the day of the departure so most likely your fellow guests will be on the same schedule. So hopefully your boat won't leave without you.
Up until recently not too many places to stay in Sarong.
