Guys
Thanks for all the good advice. The dive shop is sending a 5 mil suit along and I am considering a hooded vest. This shop is an SSI shop. I have been playing with the dive watch since Feb doing sims but they offer a class so I'm on for that. I may not get to the UW Photo this trip but we'll see. I ride my motorcycle in weather down in the 50s with just a jacket and jeans, in the 40s with leather on so again, we'll see. They do have rental stuff at Loch Low Minn too if I don't bring enough.

I agree with the others.... No less than 5mm with a hooded vest and you really should be in a 7mm set. You also need a hood and gloves if not in a hooded vest. Have you done any of your training in hood & gloves?

If the ship has not left the port on the photography class ditch it. You have far more important things to be working on than pictures. When you have 25-50 dives under your belt and your buoyancy and control are starting to make sense you can pursue photography.

Don't underestimate the chilling effects of submersion and respect the effects of task loading.

I finished OW & Nitrox on Sunday, did not get to the photo stuff yet but now there is plenty of time for that.

The cold water was no big deal!

That's a good one! I guess this is a slightly old thread, if you've already done your 50sF 3mil dives, how were they?

The dives were great! The 50s were not so bad but as I said earlier I did get a 7mm suit, hood, gloves and boots. I am a fast learner and take the advice of those with experience. :)
