hello,

my son is a jr open water dive in the US and we are planning a trip to the red sea and was wondering if he will be allowed to dive there, looking at all the sites it says that 10-12 are not allowed to learn to dive in israel but he does not need to learn, any help would be great.

thanks

AFIK the minumum age here for jr OW is 10 so as long as he is not younger then this it should be ok. the best is to check it with the dive centers:

As far as I know, the local legislation states that "a person under the age of 12 shall not practice sportive SCUBA diving".
The term "sportive scuba" refers to any type of diving that is not military, work and the such.

According to local law, a 10 year old cannot scuba dive.

However, he will be able to scuba dive with an instructor, just as non certified people can make intro dives- but he will probably be able to enjoy this much more if he has experience, and most instructors will probably just treat him more as a dive buddy (and less as an intro) if they see that he is a good diver.
