I know we're speaking metaphorically here, but I didn't say anything about breaking things -- I said say.

Would you let someone come into your home and continually break the rules (about language) that you have set for whatever reason you set them? Your argument sounds like that of a petulant teenager.

The owners of this site have set the rules to make the site as successful as possible. If you find them so objectionable, you should be a man about it (or a woman about it) and hit the road. It's really not that complicated.

i don't like extremes

So if you go to a store and get bad service, you should not complain but simply not do business there any more instead?

You can do as you please, but I tend to let a business know if I am not happy so they can make a changes if they want. Only when it is fairly clear that I am not going to be satisfied and they are not going to change, do I actively seek to take my business elsewhere.

First, I never called anyone an airhead -- I called the argument or the thinking that someone should be able to say whatever they please in someone else's house -- airheaded and it is. You don't allow that in your house, but you expect this site to allow you that privelege -- sorry but that is the definition of hypocrisy.

no one other than you is saying to let people say whatever they want on this site. that simply isn't the argument

and accusing people of hypocrisy without understanding what they are saying is extremely annoying

I meant to say exactly what I said. It's ok to ask for change but in the finally analysis, if change doesn't come to your liking, accept it or leave. Real simple.

care enough about a place to try and make it better even if change doesn't come your way. merely expressing an opinion that is different form the status quo has value. you may not get the change you want, but it may get people thinking and lead to improvements

I was at a work Christmas party yesterday and I think I should have had a Mod come with me. The way I define workplace behavior is probably not as many would.

Expressing opinions rarely leads to change ... if you truly want to change something, you hire a lobbyist and pay the right people to implement the change. At least, that's how it works in our society.

Of course, one person's idea of improvement is usually someone else's idea of a setback ...
