Then why did the owner/moderator/developers provide that option?

Since it's here, obviously by their discretion, why shouldnt we make the most of it?

Just because you don't see a benefit, doesn't mean others don't.

They didn't provide the level of moderation & type of forums you want. Just because you want it, why should the focus of the people who run this board be wasted on it.

See, I can use bold and be aggressive towards other people too. Aren't I clever?

This place is for giving feedback, that's what I did. Just because you I disagree with you shouldn't provoke you to make it personal. I know feel well it is my opinion, others can clearly see who posted it and I made no attempt to represent any other people. Why do you feel the need to point out it's my opinion?

This is exactly the reason why free-for-all discussion forums quickly descend into anarchy. People playing the man and not the ball......

I can't help but notice that you are not a supporting member. I encourage you to send in your money and help to develop the community you defend.

Once again, attacking the poster and not the post. Should the fact I am not a contributing member mean I can't state my opinion?

No. Absolutely not. You are completely entitled to your opinion. I think, however, if you are going to speak for, mods and developers, etc., you should make a commitment to the success and functionality of this board. If you want to argue, there are boards out there for that, also. If you do not like, want or agree with someone, that does not give you the right to choose what other peopke may want

For crying out loud, how can you possibly think I am speaking for them? My opinion is my own. I am sure they are more than capable of representing themselves.

Fine to post S-H-I-T, but not shit? WTF? What diff does it make if we say poo, caca, crap, **** or shit? Why would s-h-i-t not offend and shit offend someone?

If you're nutless enough to post anonymously, you get to say 4 letter words?? What gives?

I think the proposed solutions would waste the developer & moderators time, for very little benefit.
That's one point of view, but it's certainly not held by everybody.
Once again, this is a board to talk about scuba diving. If you want to chat about politics, religion or see swimsuit calander pictures then there are plenty of better places to do so.
Where did you get this idea? ScubaBoard has long branched out further than just being a board to talk about diving. If that's what you want you might very well be in the wrong place. There ARE boards that are ONLY diving related, but not this one. It was decided a very long time ago that this board was also about chatting and all manner of other non-diving related things - basic socializing. Hence the various forums for that purpose. They are there to allow for non-diving discussion/chatting between groups of people who met here. And the point is that it's these groups that would like to talk about what they want HERE.......not somewhere else. If I find a forum where such discussion is allowed, and then come back here and post - "Hey guys......let's all go over to xw*.com, we can do what we want there!". do you really think that would be accepted? I'll give you a clue - I wouldn't try it if I were you. :D

This is at the heart of this for me. The groups of people have been formed HERE, so obviously trying to take them away would remove members from this site quite probably. So the groups have to remain here - but then they are effectively told what they may or may not talk about etc etc. Given that they are all comprised of adults who can normally decide for themselves stuff like that it comes across as censorship, and being treated like children. Hence threads like this one.

It's not hard to understand why.

Im amazed how this thread has turned into "is nudie pics ok?", cause the way I read the OP that really wasnt the point in the first place. The point jep made, as far as I percieved it was that the way we choose to express ourselves in our postings at times are very strictly limited as there is a lot of words and expressions that people who call themselves adults tend to use that is blocked, triggers deleted and modded posts and nice little warnings in your mailbox.
I dont think what the OP really tried to say was "lets make this a pr0n site" or "lets make sure all threads go offtopic". How I interpreted the post was more "let us discuss things as if we wherent in the kindergarden and lets just accept that not everyone use the same vocabulary to describe things".
To quote a priest in a US tv-series from some time back "sometimes **** is the only word that work"

Edit: (the stars is supposed to be the S-word, not the F-word or the C-word)
