Thanks Verona,
It's fair to say that my bouyancy control needs work. I'll have done my AOW before these dives so hopefully some of the remedial work you suggest will have been done by then.

Don't forget, you won't be using steel tanks, but ALU80's more than likely.

Not sure what 24C is, but 75-77ish is what I usually have found :) (Not fully Metric-ized yet) 77F is 5mm and hood territory for me :D Brrrrr. I have done it 3mm, with no hood and had been chilly by the end of the second dive. (30-45min a dive).

Steve,
My SAC rate means I won't be in the water for the same amount of time as you :)

They observe strict rule of thirds at worst, but it's very shallow (30ft or less for most/all of the dive) so you'll have a fair amount of time to enjoy it.

Thanks Steve - that's reassuring.

Scuba_Steve:
As far as I know, a certified Cave Diver, not just an Instructor, can perform the duties of Cavern guide in Mexico. .

they need to be a dive instructor, and a full cave diver, equiped with full cave gear.

I suggest you card them before you dive with them..

ps.. Full cave instructors are a pretty rare breed, there are not a whole load of them about.

That's the way I understood it as well Mark, for the same reasons. (Full Cave instructors are a rare breed, and because of shear numbers, it would be impossible to run Cenote tours with only Full Cave Instructors).

I really suggest you contact Diablodivers... (Dennis are you listening??). We dove the cenotes with Dennis in October. WE are new divers and very safety conscious, but were very comfortable with Dennis! He is a great guide and will make your diving and safely top priority. He is also a great resource just for info... He is on this board as .....hmmmm can't remember his board name. But email him at Diablodivers, he is based in Akumal but can pick you up in his very nice Ve-Hicle! :) Have fun!

Dennis goes by Pez de Diablo on the boards. Also if I remember right he had steel 80's or 85's. I'm almost sure he had steels because I had steel bp/wings setup, and was way heavy for the fresh water. At least on my first dive I was able to get neutral, but for some reason on the second dive I just couldn't find the sweet spot.
