It's been about 10 years since I went but we used these guys - Puerto Adventures is about 10 miles South of Playa Delcarma - there are a couple of big all inclusive resorts and some condos and a Hotel - they also now have a Dolphin incounter --

This shop was founded by Mike Madden, the guy that proved that the underground river conected to the ocean.

Good information can be found in the Mexico forums
There is a Scuba board member that has gotten excellent reviews from other members. You can look in the Mexico forum for Dennis. His web site is
Diablo Divers

I personally have enjoyed Diving with Stefano at Bahia Divers in Xpu-ha. Not to be confused with Bahia Dive Center in Akumal Bahai Principe Hotel.

One factor in picking an Operation is the location of where you are staying another is which cenote you want to dive

I've been to Pro-Tec and while the shop is very modest looking, it has an impressive record. They are definately worth looking into...and if you need a place to stay while there, Mom's hotel right next door is great.

Don't know about dive ops but I really liked Cenote Dos Ojos.

I recommend Xibalba Dive Center in Tulum. They are a great dive shop, mellow, attentive to your needs and safe. They also coordinate the Qintana Roo Speleological Survey that is discovering new cave routes.
Given that Abyss never showed up at their shoip for our dives and left us to find another dive operator, I warn folks about them.

As far as cenotes are concerned Dos Ojos is nice but can get crowded. There are "out of the way" tunnels so make sure your guide knows them or start the tour in the opposite direction from the traffic. There is not much stilt in Dos Ojos. When you spot the crocodile eating the barbie, you are at the end of the line that was filmed in the 2002 IMAX film, 'Journey Into Amazing Caves.'

If you want to experience diving through a layer of hydrogen sulfide between fresh and salt water then dive Angelita. The dive is otherwise not interesting and it is deep (40m). It is a must-do-once experience.

A great way to experience the fresh/salt water halocline without hydrogene sulfide and a big 3m jump with all equipment into a cave is Temple of Doom. It requires good buoyancy control and gives you a good impression of being into a cave (no light) although it is still technically a cavern dive.

I like Aktum Ha (Carwash) best because you not only have fresh water biodiversity to see but the light effects when you look out of the cave are spectacular. Entry is easy.

Good luck with your trip,
JL

We were down there last month and Chris from luckyfish set us up with a great guide.

Both Chris and the guide (Andy the Viking) were relaxed and supremely confident...
we were able to dive Dos Ojos as a private tour.

I went with Dressel Divers, they operate at a lot of the resorts in Playa del Carmen. The transportation to the centoes was a disaster and it took close to a day of driving around. However once we got to the dive spot the instructors were excellent and really made the whole day worthwhile.
