Booking Coco View for a week. The quote they gave me with air doesn't give me any discount than booking myself.

Is there any benefit to having them book my flights?

Also, a couple more CCV questions:

Does anyone know how early you have to be there to get your orientation dive in on Saturday. I'm considering a flight that will arrive at 2:45pm, think I can make it? Would love to get a much diving in as possible.

Also, if we are flying out Sunday afternoon at 3:40pm, will we be allowed to dive Friday morning? We'll be back in plenty of time to have a 24+ hr surface interval.

Thanks!

Any advice you could give me would be great!

I've never been able to do it cheaper than Roatan Charter (which books for CCV), but I'm no expert.

If your flight arrives at 2:45, you will be at the resort and then recv your checked bags about 5pm.

Many folks are very fired up to dive on arrival day. Yes, you need the "orientation" so you don't get in trouble doing the shore-dive through the cut in the reef wall.

Maybe it's better to re-hydrate and look around the resort? I have seen a lot of people jones for a day-of-arrival dive... but they are rarely the folks that take advantage of doing 5x a day thereafter. Sounds like you might be the exception.

Flying out in Sunday?

Not sure why you couldn't dive even on Saturday, both morning boat dives and probably do another afternoon shore dive or ther first of the two afternoon boat dives. Out of the water by 3:45 no problem.

The Saturday dive schedule is very cool as you get to go to some pretty unusual dive sites.

Sorry, mispoke there. We are going to be leaving at 3:40pm on SATURDAY. I thought I had read that divers usually don't dive Friday to give themselves a good 24 hours before they fly. I'm not sure if this is a suggestion or a policy and was wondering if they would discourage diving Friday morning even if our flight was Saturday afternoon.

And like you said, I'm sure 5-6 days of diving is a lot. I have never done anything like this before. But it's hard to imagine that being right there at the water's edge, I won't be dying to suit up and jump in the moment I get there :)

Thanks for the forum link! I LOVE forums :)

a) When I went earlier this month, I think only people on the earlier Delta flight could do the Saturday orientation. (I was one, absolutely ready to jump in the water as soon as I got there.)

b) All the boats went out Friday morning, but of course some people chose to skip it. (Not me!)

We were there last June. Arrived ready to do a pre-arranged Saturday orientation dive and did so by getting in the water by 3:00 or so. The conditions were awful (never that bad again) and we regretted pushing ourselves, as did Mitch (manager) because he thought we were never going to get back against the surge. You can dive as many times a day as nitrogen loading and desire allow. Waiting until Sunday is not a problem at all and I'd do it that way if hindsight was allowed. We dove Friday morning (before a Saturday 3 pm or so flight) on the boat and a few of us did a leisurely shore dive after the two boat dives being sure to exit the water well before 24 hours before flight. I don't think we got below 20 feet but it was a blast just playing in the front porch.
As to Saturday orientation, we agreed ahead of time that only if we could meet our DM by 2:30 with all equipment ready could we do the orientation. After that, it's time off for the DMs.
Have a great time, take your time on every dive (learned from Doc A.), and take the opportunity to chat with all guests and staff there. It's worth it.

I have no comments on CCV as I have never stayed there. Personally, I prefer to book flights directly so I can be sure of what the flights are and check seat availability. It also may be easier (depending on how the reservation is made) for me to deal with the airline in the event of a problem or a credit card dispute. If there were a significant savings in the cost of the flights if CCV booked them, then I might reconsider. I travel a lot for my job and prefer to be in control of my flights. I'm more willing to book dive packages but prefer not to book meal plans unless I am staying far from other restaurants. Just my $0.02.

looks like all of your questions have been answered...I always do the dives on Friday. I even do the afternoon dive on Friday....there is no policy on diving on Friday you are treated as an adult at CCV....have fun...I will be there in June :)

oh yeah I always use Roatan Charter for the land portion...but as others have said I always book my own airfare...I set up a tagger on Yapta and when the price drops I buy my ticket...bought mine last fall for less than 700.00 from Texas..and yes that is a low price :(
