Considering diving Cayman Brac next spring. Have extensive experience in Turks & Caicos plus time in Roatan, Belize and Grand Cayman. How does CB compare?
Thnx

Have never been to Belize but have dived all the other spots you mentioned. IMO diving at Brac is better than Roatan, Grand, T and C; but not quite as good as Little Cayman.

That's just my opinion.

We are going there for our fifth trip or so in May. It is my favorite place to dive in the western hemisphere. Way better than the places that you mentioned. However, I have not been to Turks and Caicos, only other parts of the Bahamas.

One of the unique things about Cayman Brac is the ability to do both great shore and boat dives. The only similar place like that in the western hemisphere is Bonaire. While the infrastructure on Cayman Brac is much less than Bonaire, the underwater topography in Cayman Brac is stunning.

We usually try to make one boat dive to Little Cayman. You have to dive Randy's Gazebo if you have a chance.

We stay at the Alexander Hotel

I just got back from Cayman Brac last February with people in my dive shop. Our boat took us to Little Cayman on one of the days, and I preferred Little Cayman ever so slightly over Cayman Brac. I'd be willing to return to either. The food and staff at the resort were top notch, and so was the food. Bring a refillable plastic water bottle, as the canned water there is expensive. This was my first dive trip, so I can't really compare it to other places. We did see stingrays, eagle rays (my favorite), big lobsters, multiple nurse sharks, crabs, I sadly missed the octopus and other sharks the rest of the group saw because I was either not being very observant or I was simply looking in the wrong direction. I used a scopolamine patch to control my severe nausea I usually get on boats, and it worked beautifully. I did get stung on my leg by a jellyfish on the night dive. My fault for wearing swim shorts the entire trip, but I got over it real fast and did not let that ruin my trip. I need to type up a trip report and post it in here!!!

Go to Little Cayman. Much better diving than the Brac. I am here now and the diving has been mediocre. Sites have a lot of algae and not a ton of variety. Also the main dive op is not very good. Nice boats but they have a rule for everything which is very annoying and they really don’t engage with divers to point out creatures.

With so many great choices in the Caribbean, I would not recommend.

If you stay at the resort, you are limited to what the resort does. While I have not stayed at the resort, I have dove on their boats a number of times. There was a discussion of the resorts need to have rules. Something to do with the resort food scheduled operations and some other separate dive staff obligations. I am not sure that I liked that either. They used to be more flexible before Covid. A lot of that staff left.

Diving on your own is a completely different experience. Dive when you want, where you want, how long you want, and how many times you want. So, not too many rules, just dive safely. That’s what we will be doing later this month. You will never get to do many of the amazing dives on Cayman Brac unless you do the dives on your own from the shore.

Im in Cayman right down. I asked the boat captain at Living the Dream, same question. He lived there 3 years. He said reef more pristine, nice wall at little Cayman. No nightlife (not an issue with me) very quiet. Overall recommendation if you want something different from GC.

Do not agree with Divezonescuba. I've been at Brac Reef and LCBR many times and the "rules" were the same pre and post covid and have never been very onerous. Be back on the boat in an hour and do not exceed NDLs. Most people will be out of air or time by then anyway. You can go with the group or not, your choice. This of course implies single tank recreational diving.

The captains and DMs strive to get to the best sites for any given day of diving depending on conditions. Diving on your own means shore diving, and many wall dives on Brac are not easily accessed from shore. Further, nothing easier than valet boat diving, and if there is a problem, help is right there.

I do agree that in general, LC has slightly better diving than Brac, as the wall starts shallower.
