We are planning a trip this July to Cayman Brac, it seems that there is only a few dive shops to pick so I was wondering if anyone can help on the dive shop that they dived with. We are staying at a rental home which is going to be on the south shore,so I will be traveling to and from the boat, and I was hoping that the dive shop will rent tanks for me to take along for shore diving. So any information on Cayman Brac in general and dive related topics I will be very greatful. Thanks...

You will be dealing with the Brac reef Resort. The Divi just closed. I will be there in Mar. and 1st wk of April. We are staying at Caribe Sands. The Divi was easy to deal with, now you only have one dive op to choose from. Before you finalize your plans, make sure that you call the Brac reef and see if they will accept you on their boats. With the Divi you could get tanks for shore dives, since I've been to the Brac (1989)on and off, I've never seen that the Brac Reef would let you have tanks for shore dives.

Brac Reef will let you have tanks for shore dives.

Hi, Just to let you know...we went diving with Brac Reef Resort in '98 and were very pleased with the services and guides. We actually stayed at the resort itself, so it was very convenient..don't know how far you will be from the resort. Anyhow, the DM's at that time were very knowledgeable and went out of their way to show us a good time. There are some fantastic wall dives there, I found those to be the highlight of the trip. One of the DM's took us thru a cut the went into a tunnel that came out at about 100ft on one of the walls...fabulous. Other than that, sites to see were the barracuda alley (don't remember the actual name), The russian Destroyer (although it was VERY new when we were there..not much growth, but that's been almost 10 years ago) and The anchor pass thru. As far as on land activities..it's really very very quiet at Brac. There are some caves to explore on one end of the island and a good local jerk place on one side (side opposite the hotels). You will find the food to be rather expensive there...10 years ago it was at least $30 per meal. But, there is a local grocery that carries some good stuff to stock up for breakfast, snacks etc. so you don't find yourself paying large for each meal. If you have any further questions, hit me back and I'll do what I can to answer them...Cheley30@yahoo.com

Yes, Brac reef will let you have tanks for Shore Dives...but we went 3 dives a day for 7 days and didn't take any~~but they are available.

Was there this past July. Brother-inlaw is a dive master at Brac Reef Resort. Lots of shore diving, in fact most of the sites they take you to are just a short swim out from the shore. Almost all on the north side.
Kieth Tibbits is the name of the Russian war ship. I have some pictures but don't know how to inset them.
Have a great time!!
