Hello all,

I have been a guest on Scubaboard for some time, and have been meaning to register and start posting, etc. I had something good happen last weekend and felt particularly motivated to join and start by posting this.

All too often one reads stories of disappointment with a dive operator. I have read several of those accounts right here on Scubaboard, and I feel they have a place. As a diver I certainly have interest in the opinion and experiences of other divers with a destination / operator. However, having worked myself in the recreation industry I also realize that you can't please everyone all the time.

But how refreshing it is to hear a glowing report on an operator / instructor. I am happy to say I have one to offer.

Several months back while diving at Blue Grotto in north central Florida I happen to meet an instructor who was diving there that day too, his company is Superior Dive Training. My wife and I spoke with he and his wife and we instantly liked them. I stayed in touch via email and over time he put together a cavern diving seminar.

We were very excited about the seminar as it approached - but then, unfortunately the seminar had to be canceled - due to the students themselves all dropping out. It was too bad as we were really looking forward to the seminar - both for itself and to see if this might be “the guy” to do our cave training with.

I kept in touch with the instructor and we rescheduled a time. Here is where it really gets impressive. This guy went way out of his way and put together a make-up seminar date for my wife and I. Just us.

Last weekend we met up and did the lesson. (This was just a cavern workshop and not the full cavern course. Just to get us started on some skills and review equipment requirements, etc.) We spent several hours together at Ginnie Springs, both above water and below. He did a fantastic instruction job - very calm, professional and warm. His method is exactly compatible with what we like. He did a great job explaining things and answered all questions fully and happily. He was not rushed at any point whatsoever. In the water he was a pure pro, taking his time and making sure we got what he was teaching. We were comfortable and learning tons the entire time.

This private lesson was fantastic. And the price was utterly unbelievable - he was going out of his way making up for the prior canceled seminar and it was more than fair to say the least.

We are both interested in doing our full Cavern and Cave training and now are certain that Superior Dive Training is a completely professional and responsible trainer to go with.

We look forward to doing more with them and hope that if fellow divers in Florida are interested they are fortunate enough to meet up with them too.

Here is to what everyone loves to see in the industry - way to go Superior Dive Training, you really do it right and have our thanks, appreciation and respect.

(I have refrained from using the instructors name without his permission, nor have I posted any contact information for them as I don't know if that is permisable. If you are interested in cavern or cave training they are very easy to find on line.)

Good stuff. Be sure to keep us updated as you and your wife move along in your training.

Welcome to the dark side, as our cave diving crew would say
