we will be on little cayman in March. 1 member of our family does not dive and on vacations to other places we usually are able to plan a fun day out on a catamaran and go snorkeling to a few places. Does anyone know of anyone I can contact for this purpose out of LITTLE Cayman? want our daughter to be able to have a nice excursion snorkeling with the whole family.

Usually, they will take snorkelers on the dive boats with you as long as there is room (never seen there not be room). You might have to pay for it, but I don't know how much. Especially when diving the north side of the island, the dive boat is frequently moored in 15-20 feet of water, so snorkelers will have plenty to look at without having to go far from the boat. You can also go out for a picnic at Owen Island or Point of Sand and go snorkeling from the shore.

Thank you for your reply. Yes, I am aware we could possibly get our snorkeler on the dive boat with us, or plan to go to a different part of the island t snorkel. But I am specifically asking about a dedicated boat trip, preferably on a catamaran, for the day with our daughter (who is a young adult). Does anyone know of anyone who does this on Little cayman?

To the best of my knowledge, there is not anyone that does that. There are not any operators except the resorts.

LCBR rents small catamarans for use in the lagoon, but there is not much snorkeling there. I have not seen any other catamarans on the island.

There is what I would call a patio boat near Southern Cross Club. If you could rent that I think that is about as close to it you can get.

The underwater topography of the island does not really lend itself to what you want. Going east from LCBR you would have to travel to near the eastern end to snorkel and going west, you would have to travel to just around the west end. All of this of course assumes a fairly calm day.

LCBR also rents a small fishing boat with Captain.

It is just not simple answer in my mind.

Edit: Actually, it is a liitle closer going to the west through the cut to get to a snorkeling site. You might also consider going to Point of Sand. It has a great beach, very few people and the snorkeling is outstanding over a large area. Take a lunch too. No catamaran as there are two cuts you would have to traverse, in addtion to the distance.

There are some fishing operators there...not sure if you could contact one of them chartering the boat for a day. But, I'm sure those boats would just take you to the same places as the dive boats and it would be much more expensive. Your best bet for a family outing will be as others have stated....renting kayaks out to Owen Island (from LCBR or Southern Cross) or renting scooters/car or getting a ride out to Point of Sand. They have a shaded area with picnic tables. Nice snorkelling. But, for a day when the winds are calm.
