Hi folks,

I heard the vis at Catalina was murky after the rains last week, has it
cleared out? Did the fire result in more particulate being carried in the
run-off? Can't wait until my next visit, which may be soon!

Regards,

I dove the Magician today (Wed). We had about 40-50' at Ship Rock, 30-40' at Sea Fan Grotto, and 30' at Crane Point. Water temp avried from 62-67º.

Thanks Ken, much obliged. I heard that last weekend was in the 10 foot or less range in some of the usual spots due to runoff after the rains.

Hard to believe, but I haven't been diving our waters for nearly two weeks (I was off-island). Word I got was that vis was poor (10 ft) Saturday right after the rains the previous day, but cleared up nicely on Sunday. I'll be diving Fri-Sat-Sun to determine current conditions.

Dove Casino Point Dive Park thanks to a great tour by Reeveseye on Monday (24th). The viz was 20-30 feet with a bit of surge. With the better viz further further from shore and deeper. The temp was as low as 60 degrees.

The LA times, today, listed the viz at 40 feet for Wed.

Good to hear, I'm going to be at the dive park this Saturday. :)

Got in one short but much needed day of diving on a sunny and calm day yesterday. Vis opened up to ~60-70 in spots at Pirates Cove along the northern side. Less vis and more current just across the way at Hen rock. Water temps above 60 feet were in the balmy upper 60's. The lobster hunters in the group were skunked (hey, it was daytime) though we found one lobster tail sans meat.
