Hola Crabs and Crabettes!:D I dove Catalina yesterday with the dive shop I bought my gear and camera set up from. We went out on the Great Escape. Now...why I don't have ANY basis for comparison between dive boats/charters, I was Impressed. Looking at the 2 other similar large charters who were docked near us, the GE was way more spacious. The food was awesome and the crew very friendly....from the Captain on down.

Hit Catalina for the first of 3 dives at about 9:30. The water was actually blue! They were saying that it was the first real blue water they've seen this season. Temp was 72 surface and 65 at 80'. Vis was 30-50' sometimes better. Current was mild to non existent at the first site for dives 1-2. Current when we got wet at the 2nd site was negligable, by the time we got out though...it had picked up dramatically. We could see the seaweed stalks dramatically bent (which I had no clue for as an indicator...noob) Anyways...when we surfaced the boat was about 100 yards up current :11: I put my snorkel in and started my normal lazy kick...after a min I looked up, and I hadn't moved...LOL. Needless to say...I started kicking harder. After about 10 mins we made the swim step.

Anywho....here's some pics, most of them are just ambient light, with a wide angle lens. My fav's are deffinatly the lobster crevasse!! I count at least 5 or so in there lurking.

Great shots, Greg! The condition looked nice, wow!

I love the expession on the Garibaldi's face in the last one. Looks like he is either frowning or mad:rofl3:

I like the GE. Captain Tim Burke goes out of his way to make the trips special.
