Hey everybody, looking for any recommendations on good dive shops (rental gear), dive boats, dive guides, etc on Catalina. Thanks.

There are two dive operations on Catalina.

ScubaLuv has an actual dive shop and runs the King Neptune, home of our very own Dr.Bill. Catalina Divers Supply has a small rental shack on the pleasure pier and an air fill station/rental trailer at Casino Point and they run the Scuba Cat.

Both operations appear to be friendly. I dove from the King Neptune (with Dr. Bill!!) and had a wonderful time. That said, I got excellent service from the CDS fill station at Casino Point and they welcomed me to try out the Scuba Cat on my next trip.

Of course, you realize that there's both excellent boat AND shore diving on Catalina, right?

One tip: Check with your hotel on what is the best option for transporting you and your gear from the Express to the hotel. Some offer their own transport, some contract with the Catalina Baggage Service and some "allow" you to hail a cab.

Both shops can give you a good experience. Scuba Luv is a full-service shop giving everything from Discover SCUBA to advanced tech. IMHO the King Neptune is a better boat (I've worked with both shops) because it is much more spacious, they do fills on board rather than swapping tanks, the food is better, etc.

Gotta love the Neptune and Cap/Mayor Bob & his crew/family!
