Hi all,

I read the sticky info about catalina island and it was very informative but I don't know which dive shop to choose to go diving. Could anyone please post or message me recommendations for dive shops?

Many thanks!

I'm sure others will chime in. I always bring my own gear, but have seen many people use Scuba Luv.
Also CDS (Catalina Divers Supply) has a fill station next to the dive park and I known they rent a few items.
You can google each shop and see what each offers.
When are you going?

All 3 shops are good and within walking distance ofeach other. Catalina Divers on the Green Pier and Dive Catalina onthe walkway from the Ferry terminal going towards the pier havesmaller boats and do 2-tank morning dives. Scuba Luv is the biggestshop, has the largest boat and does a 3-tank all day trip. DiveCatalina is a NAUI shop and the other two are PADI, if that mattersto you. I believe only ScubaLuv offers dive and accommodationpackages.

Be aware that in California the DM stays on theboat. If you want a guided dive, you'll have to set that up inadvance. I believe all three shops offer that service.

Thanks guys! I am planning on going the first or second weekend in November. I heard the kelp is lush and water is clear then :)

Agree that all three are good. CDS has the best location...right at the Casino Dive Park which eliminates shlepping tanks and weights. Thats a big consideration if you are not renting a golf cart (which seem expensive to me). I have had outstanding service from Scuba Luv and Dive Catalina. Scuba Luv seems very well set up for advanced and tech diving and additional boat diving. November can be awesome there...here is a video from last Fall at the Park...Turtle of the Casino in Catalina Island in Nov19th - YouTube

That was rare but Fall is often the time unusual things turn up.

I agree that all three shops (SCUBA Luv, CDS and Dive Catalina) can give you a good experience out here. Are you thinking of doing boat dives or "just" shore diving at Casino Point?
