I've made a few short videos recently from Catalina and San Diego.

One is with a large leopard shark and a bat ray in Catalina, one is me chasing a mantis shrimp in the Catalina Dive Park, and one is of a large horn shark & halibat in La Jolla, and one is a Giant Salp with a long siphonophore.

I hope you enjoy them! Let me know what you think. They are .wmv files, and should automatically buffer and play on Windows PCs.

Great Vids Scott. Thanks for sharing.

Scott... Can't believe you got a mantis shrimp in the Dive Park. Wow! I've never seen one there(which may mean I need prescription lenses). Congratulations.

thanks Terry.

ok, dr bill, I lied, sorry. It wasn't in the dive park, it was near the Valient. close enough though. In case you want to find him, I was leaving the valient, swimming towards shore, at the steepest angle possible (SW maybe). anyway, i hit him in about 50 feet of water, give or take 10 feet. He was in the wide open, you couldn't miss him - Scott

I consistently see them on the border 'tween Descanso and the park. They are there in the sand flats. I always think I'm seeing the same one, but once I saw two on the same dive... so he probably has a buddy!

I have seen them there Scott and Ken. I think there's far too much disturbance inside the park for them. The often intense dive activity in the park does appear to drive some of the less "tolerant" species outside the park.
