I was wondering if anyone knows of a site where one can easily check Catalina's current dive conditions such as the site hosted by Laguna Sea Sports that posts the conditions for Shaw's Cove.

Anyone know of anything like this? Where does everyone go to check conditions?

You can call any of the dive shops and they will tell you. Yesterday we did three dives to film giant sea bass and had visibility of 100-120 ft. It was unbelievable.

Thanks. That's a good idea.

The next day we dove the same site and had a cloudy 50 ft at depth and 75 in water above 45 ft. We did find good vis at another site, but not stellar like the day before. Good things don't last forever... sigh!

In the 8 or so dives I've had in Catalina, viz was always around 40' or so. I can't imagine how incredibly 100+ feet would be!

I'm trying to get out there this weekend. Fingers crossed.

Well, in two days the vis has declined more. The site with the fantastic vis two days ago had surge down to at least 85 fsw, particulates and green water yesterday. Vis was still fairly good north of Long Point. We're being hit by two factors right now... an apparent south swell south of Long Point and wind and strong currents north of it.
