Casino Point Dive Park Access on Fourth of July

There were "no parking" signs up at the Casino Point Dive Park today, so I thumbed my planned day and night dives. I was told this would not happen until tomorrow, but...

If you are planning to come over to Catalina to dive the park tomorrow, a concert is scheduled for the parking lot starting at 6:00 (British Invasion with two bands, including Spencer Davis, Roger Connelly and a host of others). Vehicles will not be allowed into Casino Point, but taxis (and others) can drop divers off in front of the Casino building. Ruth Harris told me that anyone diving will have to walk around the Descanso Beach side of the Casino with their gear.

If you're in town, the concert should be fun... but restricting our diving is not making me a happy camper!

No worries for me... by the time I get there on July 6, things will probably be back to normal.

Yeah that sucks i was concidering watching the fireworks show underwater.

I've watched them from underwater on several Fourths... you won't be missing much. They are MUCH more spectacular when seen topside.

I miss sittin' on the bluff, camping @ the Isthmus, watchin' the "show", it's usually the night of the 3rd as to not conflict with the Avalon show. So much fun Island side!!

Dive park once again fully accessible as of July 5th.

Hi dr bill ...did you get to check vis today at the dive park....Thinking about taking the flyer tomorrow on standby and want to know if it is just as bad as yesterday?..Laguna is getting hammered because of swell direction...Only spots to dive are malaga, la jolla, or leaward side of catalina......

Didn't dive yesterday. Vis reported to be improving at 20-25 ft. Will try today.
