If you're doing artwork in anything but a Mac I pitty you <g>

Yes, Illustrator is Mac & PC based.
 
well, I wouldn't exactly call it artwork, just goofing around.

although, my "photography" is slightly more serious, it has actually earned me some cash. last job was just under $500. that is an air fill or two
 
Just 'cause you're just getting started or isn't at the level of your photography it doesn't mean it's not artwork, but I understand what you mean.

Keep working at it, learn PS... and use the gradient tool for shading.
The airbrush tool is difficult to use freehand unless you're using a a pen & tablet.
Start out flat then add detail in layers.

Oh, btw get cheaper air fills <j/k>

Are you still working on a CLEAN version of the SeaYoda cartoon? I haven't been picking on you lately and it's killing me. You gotta reveal your artwork so I can go back to normal. :D
