How do you fit fins in a carryon?! They must be shorties, lol. My pack fits easily under the seat, but my regs bag would need to go on top of that so it'll be a squeeze, but doable. I hate having to carry my regs bag separate though, afraid I'll set them down and absent-mind leave them somewhere in the airport, eek! 90% of my gear is Oceanic, but this is the bag, purse size:

Aqua Lung Explorer Collection Regulator Bag

I have Size Large ScubaPro Jet Fins. They will still make it if only 22" is allowed. :)

I've seen too many people arrive at the hotel before their checked bags to risk having most of my dive gear checked. I only check my BC since they can be easily rented and I'm not as fussy about them as, say, my regulator, mask, fins, wetsuit, etc. I'm modifying my BC so it will also fit--at least I hope it will. It might not make it on Hawaiian though...

The puddle jumpers to Bonaire have a 10 kilo (22 lb) limit for carryon - supposedly. In the few times I've flown through Curacao or Aruba I never had them weigh my carryon - and it was heavy. I just handled it like it was featherweight and they didn't ask.

For fins in carryon - Aeris Accel. Wonderful fins and short, light, stiff. And the straps are more stretchy than spring straps.

MAYAir from Cancun to Cozumel (puddle jumper) does actually weigh your luggage. We only used them once and we didn't have a "real" checked bag. They allow you to bring onboard your small, under-the-seat bag but make you check what most airlines consider a carry-on bag. They may be up to 11 lbs and 44 pounds respectively and it's $5.80 US per pound if you go over. I suppose there are some who would willingly pay the extra if they are a few pounds over. If I remember correctly they combined our luggage and weighed it and divided that by two so it looks like if one is over and the other is under you can still get away with it but I wouldn't swear to it.

Headed to Bonaire next week and wondering if anyone has had experiences with carry-on luggage being weighed?

I'm flying United and hope to mitigate my checked bag weight by carrying on regs, lights, 19 cu ft pony, etc. If there's a weight limit of any kind I expect to exceed it.

United's website lists only size restriction. Past experiences lead me to believe I'll be fine on the way there. I'm mostly interested in experiences departing Bonaire.

Ontzettend bedankt!

Only internationally in Europe
Has to do with EU carbon. Fuel tax or something

Check your tickets, United has a new Basic Economy fare, and those passengers are not allowed a full-sized carry-on, only a personal item that will fit under the seat. It's rough if you don't realize that until you arrive at the gate.

Yep. One more reason not to fly United.

I think some airlines you actually get a little more weight allowance for scuba stuff on your checked don't remember whick but its like 10 more pounds

Nice, thx guys.

Damn, that low?! Shoot, I need to lighten my main bag by 8lbs. then, ugh.
