We are looking to return to Bonaire for the holidays (Christmas thru New Years) for our second trip. Last time out we stayed at the Belmar Apartments. We really liked the place and the house reef was great.
Just found out they are booked. I was reffered to Caribbean Club Bonaire further to the north. Has anyone stayed there? Any concerns? Any thought?
Thanks,
Erik

I have never stayed there but have been past it many times. It is on the far end of the "hotel strip". I understand that the units range from okay to very nice. It is not at all like the Belmar. The house reef is Oil Slick Leap, a nice dive, but not as convenient as Belmar. The shallows did take some damage from Omar.

Bonaire Talk: Caribbean Club

f you are looking for something like Belmar try Bellafonte or Den Laman. These are both very nice with direct access to the reef directly out front.

Have a good trip

I prefer having a house reef I can walk out to, and Caribbean Club doesn't really have that. It's also a lot farther north than I'd like, and if I couldn't find an ocean-front place, I'd choose to stay somewhere like Golden Reef Inn instead of Caribbean Club simply due to location. But that's just my personal preference and not everyone minds driving everywhere for everything.

If you are looking for something on the water, similar to Belmar that has an apt type setup I would definitely consider Den Laman. No pool, but restaurant right there and apts are really nice. You also may want to consider Sand Dollar as well. If you want to stay in the Belnem area, and want an apt style place, it may be hard to find.

Thanks.

Liz

You will enjoy Den Laman. The restaurant and bar are great. Access to the water is very easy off the dock or the small beach. Night dives are a breeze.

The dive shop has very limited hours, so if you are planning on diving early make sure you throw a couple of tanks in your truck the night before. For late night dives bring a small padlock and throw a couple of tanks in the lockers. If you plan on taking your gear to your room at night, make sure you bring a couple of bags as the stairs seem really steep after a day of diving.
