Captain John Larsen passed away yesterday after a long illness. John was the captain of the dive boats Deep Adventures I, II, III and IV based out of Point Pleasant, NJ. John was a very avid diver in the 1970-2000's taking many divers to most of the great wreck sites in NY, NJ, Del and Va. I had the pleasure of working as a dive mate for John in the 90's to 2000's before John sold the charter business. John was the first person to find and dive the wreck of the rum runner Lizzy D in the NY/NJ channel. I always enjoyed the Memorial weekend dive trips with the Boston Sea Rovers to many great wreck sites and John always made the trips a success. John was a great captain and diver and it was a pleasure to have him as a friend. My prayers go out to Johns wife Peggy and his family. Johns viewing will be Monday (May 5) in Toms River area. John, thanks for all the great times and memories, until we meet again.
Farewell to a good friend,
Mike Sheehan
