Why does this story remind me of that old Urban Legend of the Scuba Diver in full gear, being found dead in the middle of a Forest Fire? :D
 
No idea how likely this story is to be true, but curious story anyway. For that type of whale, I suppose major risks would be equipment failure and entanglement, or decompression issues.
