Hey all,

I am currently in my OW course and I am going to be in Cape Cod (Sandwich) for 2 weeks of vacation in late June, early July. I was wondering what the conditions are like there that time of year. What kind of exposure protection do I need? Any cool local diving experiences I should do while I'm there? Where are the good shops to go to?

Thanks!

That time of year, you'll still need a 7 MM wetsuit.. Sandwich town beach is a nice shore dive. Even better night dive so bring a light. You have a few choices for shops. In Hyannis, Cape Cod Dive Locker that runs charters. Also in Hyannis is Cape Cod Sea Sports. There is also a shop in Sandwich as well. (Aqua Center) There are shore dives in Dennis as well (corporation beach and Sesuit Harbor) All shallow, safe for a beginner. Cape Cod Sea Sports does guided weekday night dives during the season.

Also, there is Hathaway pond which has a small boat submerged. Great gear rinse dive.

Search this board and you'll find plenty of threads on the above.

P.M. me I have been divin that area for30+ years...Have a boat and do Sandwich, Barnstable, Plymouth...all short runs from Sandwich Basin. Get prepared for some Lobster/sole dinners;)
