I like the pictures but you appear to be shooting in claer water. What I whould call "excelent vis." To calibrate that, I just got out of water where the visability was 15 feet and I call that "pretty good". Yesterday the vis was half that and I took the camera with me
As the visabilty closes down an external strobe becomes more importent. If the water was as clear as air the internal strobe would work perfectly as can be prooven by shooting in air.
With a limited budget the Sealife 310 looks good because you can add an external strobe inexpensivly. If you dive in poor vis. this is a big concideration. But if you dive in clear water it is clear that the internal strobe works well enough.
So, "conditioins matter"
One other thing. The sealife camera is NOT a special UW camera. It is a housed camera and you can remove the inner camera and use it without the housing.
I have the Canon A80 with Sea & Sea YS90DX it works well but already I'm thinking about a second strobe to fill in the shadows. As is the shadows are iluminated with sunlight which at depth is green So I get these unnatural looking colors in the shadow areas If shoting in the tropics or clear watr the shadows would look blue and not so bad. So "conditions matter"

yakivet:The internal strobe on the S1 worked well for my first attempt. Infact, many times some of the close up pics were a little Over exposed. I leave the flash in the "up" position when I place it within the housing.
For all of the underwater shots, I was using the manual mode, setting the shutter speed and f-stop. A single button will allow you to either manually turn off or on the flash, depending on the pictures taken. I didn't ever use the flash for more than about 3 feet away. I'll eventually pick up an external strobe, but this seems to work great for now. Ken :42:
