Cool! I am enjoying using mine... Take a look at my gallery where a couple of my (not so hot) photos with the S1 are sitting.....
Were your pictures taken in auto mode or manual? Approximately at what depth?

My pictures were either over- or under-exposed when I used the auto mode so I ended up using only the manual setting (they are posted on my gallery) since my first dive with the S1! (It was fun but when I saw the pictures my friends took turning out so well just using those point-and-shoot camera, I kind of wondered if I had been too "ambitious" :) being so new in photography). I had given up using the auto mode but always wondered if it was because of something I did or the setting on my camera that the pictures turned out so terribly when shot on auto.

You have some good shots in there - nice work. Also some fantastic finds, I think it's time to head to Manado.

They were in auto (not Program), with auto white balance - I'm going on a two-tank dive this weekend so will now start to experiment. The depth was about 7m in fairly poor vis.

I then corrected the colours in PS.

Thanks... I am hoping to learn more about photography and take better pictures... underwater photography is quite addictive. ;)

Manado is a really great place, in particular Lembeh Strait... if you like the macro stuff, you won't regret it. (A friend once jokingly said that Manado is a place where all the off-specification marine animals created were "dumped" after seeing so many odd-shaped fish).

Mmm... I haven't tried the auto mode at ~7m depth. Most of my pictures were taken around 12 to 30m with different viz.

"Auto white balance" means the default setting? (Sorry if dumb question :) I'm new to photography) A friend recently suggested to take something white down the water to "correct" the "white balance" because under the water, there's too much "blue". I still haven't quite figured out what that means. :embarass: Does the white balance cause a picture to be under- or over-exposed?

Hi, Mrskti,

On the left hand-side of the post message, there is a section "Stats". If a person had posted pictures in the photo gallery, you will see "Photo:(xx) View Gallery". (xx) is the number of photograph posted. You just have to click "View Gallery" to get to the person's post...

Oh duh, how'd I miss that!?!?!? Too many blonde streaks on me!

Those are terrific pics. We took some pics in the pool today, just goofing around and they turned out really blue! It's a very bright day here and didn't know if with the pool liner that it just turned out blue cause of that?? We have to play with it some more. And btw, does it get easier to see what the heck your doing? Like maybe it's a lot darker farther down and that will help? Sorry I sound so dumb, but just not use to underwater photo stuff. I really like this camera, but one part and that's the zoom, that little sucker is so fast!!! I'm up your nose before I get a chance to stop it. Do you get use to that too???
