I was wating for Canon to update the G7. I figured it would be soon! I am going to see how things go with it and will probably buy this camera. I hope it is as solid as the G7 has been. I am also happy to see the RAW support! :D

The return of Raw.
Excellent news.
Will be looking forward to the review of the G9.

Good news indeed, and just as I'm beginning to consider an upgrade to my Coolpix P3. Hopefully others will follow Oly/Canon & put raw back into higher end compacts.

I am seriously considering this camera. THe reviews on digideep and dpreview both seem positive. AND the camera is coming out of the gates with the underwater housing accessory. Wow.. intelligence.. :-)

Mind you, this camera will be a SERIOUS upgrade over my current camera - a Canon S230.. lol.. Go from 3.2mps to 12.1mps... nice... :-) droooool.

I was wondering about the Canon housing...it has the oval shaped front. How do you attach wet lenses? From what I have heard, you can't. I think 35mm is really not wide at all.

I really want this camera but I am really still deciding if the Sea & Sea DX1G is a better option with its wider lens.....The Sea&Sea also has full manual controls and RAW

Ahhh. Finally. Let's hope they don't slow down the shutter lag. Maybe they will bring back the S90 line also

Buy the Ikelite housing that is bound to turn up for it instead.

10 Bar has a universal adaptor which I think may work.....

Having bought the G7 in March, this really burns me up. Obviously Canon took the RAW feature out of the G7 for market segmentation purposes, and due to the uproar have reintroduced it in the G9. I won't be holding my breath for a firmware update to the G7 giving us RAW, even though it seems obvious that it is capable.
