Also in that picture, the cable is run behind the seven footer... correct, incorrect,or personal preference?

And if it is run behind the primary hose, what happens when it is clipped off to the right d-ring?? wouldnt there be a deployment problem there?
 
The BAUE images are "incorrect" in that regard. The cord goes *over* the hose, not under. The "issue" is having to run the light head behind the hose every time you clip it off, which can potentially trap the hose.
 
Mo2vation:
I switch hands when I use my inflator (so buddy doesn't see light flashing all over the place....), and I toss it over my left wrist when operating my DSLR, and I put it around my neck on night dives when I need to write a wet note.

Putting it around your neck can make donating your longhose impossible. It is better to clip it off on the right D-ring (on the cable, so the light faces down).

A buddy of mine also clips it off there when he is taking pictures. (or he just keeps it on his left hand either illuminating a small object to make focusing easier, or poining it away when using wide angle)
