21w HID would be my recommendation. i would have recommended light monkey if not for the remote ballast thing. you cant put eo cords on those guys and that really grinds my gears

For my cave diving... Gotta be an LED for durability.

I personally use a Dive Rite LUX, the beam isn't a saber, and its not the best signaler - but works - just with bigger motions. Runtime of 5 hours. I got it well under $700, new.

I like the Light Monkey iterations too. Dive X's version coming out looks neato, but the price might be 'tarted.

You can ask Corey to make it with the ballast in the hand held portion if you'd like, mine is like that.

Mine too.

I went with the Hollis 16 Watt. Price was the driving factor when I bought it, I got it at scubatoys.com. Its a great light at a great price! over 100 dives on it and no regrets.

Yeah, I compared my light to my buddies light monkey and they are very similar. The way the inside of the canister is designed is almost identical.

12w LED from 350xfire
Lipo battery
Kick ass light, although he's not making these like this anymore. Comparable one is the ones from Light Monkey
I didn't need a huge high powered HID for the stuff I was doing. It works fine in the caves and good enough in the quarries. I wouldn't take it to the Great Lakes or anywhere that was really dark and murky as it won't cut quite like an HID. I paid $600 I think for it, and the Light Monkeys are well under your 2k budget. The new Intova Ultranova's are what I'm taking for most of my stuff now as they're almost as bright. Won't last the 4 hours though...

Really? The website says the UltraNovas have a 7 hour burn time.
