Cancun In May 2016

Going to Cancun week of May 22, 2016, staying at Sun Palace. I'll be the only diver and would like to make a cenote dive one day and a open water dive another day. What's my options or recommendations?
I searched the board but most info is old.

How long ago did you dive? As some operators will not bring you to the cenotes right away after a longer period out of the water. Maybe first an ocean dive, then to the underworld. Don't really know operators in Cancun, except the big ones that I would try to evade.

If you have your own transport you could pick any operation between PdC and Tulum for the cenote, if not you are dependent on operations that will provide transport. And those are usually the bigger ones.

I dove last week. Nothing fancy, but it was a dive. I was looking at Manta, since it's the closest to my hotel and seem to have good reviews. I can do an ocean dive 1st day and cenote second day, if dive ops schedule works out.

I just left Playa Del Carmen. Honeymoon so I didnt dive any but I did check out the dive shops. Scuba Libre Seems like a pretty good op. After snorkeling Dos Ojos its now on my dive bucket list. Check it out.

Will you have transport (rental car)?

Saves a ton of money when you want to dive cenotes from Cancun. If you pay transport from Cancun the price goes up.

Just yesterday i saw the description of the boat that Squalo Divers use, and they have boats up to 30 divers.

Whatever you do, do not dive PdC ocean, it is pretty sad there except tortugas and mama vina
