OK, I'm taking my wife to Cancun Mexico for our 25th. I have dove Cozumel and know that it is a better dive location, but we are going to Cancun. Our resort offers scuba diving for an extra charge and I'm planning on 3 days of diving. I'm looking for info on what I can expect to be diving. has anyone dove there lately? This is a casual, kick back type of trip. not a hard core dive trip. I plan on lots of pool and beach ops with a cool rum drink in my hand. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Leif thanks for the info, I will be checking your website.

What has the viz been lately? I will be coming down in 10 days, just wondering.

Thanks.

it has been raining all week. Thanks to that tropical depression in the south. So viz has been down to 30ft and less. Its supposed to get better on saturday.

I feel so sorry for the guys down here for just a week !!!

Coconut Divers,

Do you provide pick up/drop off in the Hotel Zone for 2 tank morning dives? Did not see it mentioned on your website.

Thanks.

jpep, we've done 60-70 dives off Cancun (I'm not at home, so I can't check my logs for exact numbers).
The diving off Cancun is actually quite good. The sea life is virtually identical to what you'd expect to see diving Cozumel. The reefs are not as deep (the only sites I can think of deeper than 60FSW are the two wrecks which are at 80FSW) nor as elaborate as the deep reefs off Coz. For Cancun diving, think Paradise reef off Cozumel, or the Balloons.
We've done all our diving there with Alvaro from AlwaysDiving.com - he's always picked us up and dropped us off on the resort pier. We've done reef, wreck and cenote dives with him and can't say enough good things about him.

Hello Celers-silens-mortalis, my name is Alvaro Gonzalez, I've been teaching and conducting divers for over 33 years in this area of Mexico, I'll be more than glad to take care of you and your wife with your dives (In case she does scuba diving), take a look here to see the way I do what I love to do Always Diving & Water Sports - Cancun - Reviews of Always Diving & Water Sports - TripAdvisor I believe in making friends not costumers, you'll see that.
In Cancun, due the weather, the underwater conditions can change from one day to the other, usually we have great visibility and an amazing amount of sea life, because of my experience diving here, I know more than 25 different dive sites, just in Cancun area, with no more than 55 feet deep, we also have a couple of ship wreck at 80 ft deep, there is too, some shallow sites with no more than 30 ft deep like the Under Water Museum (MUSA).
Check my web site or send me an e-mail and I'll love to answer you any question you may have.
I know some special rums that you'll love.
Best regards from the paradise.
