Yeah, I'd rather fly into & out of CZM too, but if you need a break from the snow & ice, the Ado bus and ferry bag drag ain't so bad.

Some decent flight times and dates available out of Houston for example...

I planned otherwise for February as fares out of Lubbock were outrageous, Roatan was actually cheaper, but even those came down...

I am using Sidestep.com and Flexible + 3 days to shop for fares without getting trapped by airline computer programs. I used to suggest clearing airline cookies when shopping, but they are getting more devious at IDing your computers. I'll still book on the airline site, but not shop there. Long story, but the internet is getting less and less anonymous.

Note: Sidestep's abilities with checking nearby airports for cheaper flights are not perfect. You know which airports are close to you. Open the site on multiple tabs or windows and try different origins.

Returned Sat. Jan. 30 from Playa. Took the ADO bus to Cancun. Was told that it leaves on the half hour. Wrong , it leaves on the hour. 8 o'clock bus was full so we waited on the 9 o'clock bus for a 11:30 plane, arrived at 10:00 Make sure you know what termnal your plane leaves from, there are three. To make along story short, I believe everyone was leaving. In terminal 3 security line was backed down the esclators about 4 wide and about 80 feet into the main terminal with 45 minutes before departure we knew we were screwed. Told our delema to an attendent and and were escorted to the front of security, with 25 minutes to spare. If I were in Coz I would leave out of Coz. If leaving out of Cancun allow yourself no less than 2 hrs maybe 3 if not familiar with the airport. Leaving on a weekday may not be as crowded. Side note the escalator were shut off.

We just booked for August on Continental. $413.57 R/T Austin - CZM. Depending on times, could have been $20 cheaper, but we wanted the later flight out. Seems the taxes are what has increased. The base fare was $298.

Yeah, I prefer Coz too. I have only arrived in Cancun once, without problems but I understand it can take much longer at times. I get to use the VIP line leaving at both airports so no problem for me there, but can see where there could be - and I have never taken the actual airport bus, as my bus experiences were with downtown.

Still, wanted to offer some lower fares when I do find them...

When I am getting ready to plan a trip down I will set up a spreadsheet and record the prices everyday. After a few weeks I have a pretty good idea how the fare situation is going and then just wait til it hits what I think is a good price. I know, a lot of guessing with this method but so far it has been working well.
Luckily I bought my tickets a few months back so I beat this recent rise.

I bought our tickets about 6 weeks ago for our mid May trip for $290pp from Chicago to DFW to CZM, yesterday when I checked the cheapest flights were $440 with 2 stops. The airlines are nuts!

You can use YAPTA to track it for you. You can track pre-purchase, or after you purchase, by logging in your actual booking #, in case it drops enough to get a refund.

No need to re-invent the wheel. Sidestep.com/Kayak.com does that for you. I have them send me an email everyday. I just started this one for CZM....

But on the same mail I get an update on the Roatan ticket I bought in Nov...

You have to log in for updates? How do refunds work with them anyway? Orbitz has a refund policy that sounds good but is virtually impossible to win on, since someone has to buy your exact flights for less.

I booked Newark to CZM for 423.00 including all fees! Woo-Hoo! Saturday, nonstop! By 1:30 I'm drinking a margerita by the pool!
(Hotel Coz, Aldora, Continental Airlines, 3/20-2/27)
About freakin' time.

Yapta also send e-mails updates and you can set an amount ($5, $10, $25, $50) for what change you want to be notified on. As for the refunds - they don't offer you a refund but they will show your purchase price, the change fee and the current price. You would still need to go through the airline for any refund or credit.
