Its kid friendly!

shakespear, are you looking for a house, condo, or hotel? # of people?

Meyers does have a lot to choose from. We spend a week every summer in Gulf Shores.....its a wonderful place. Also, check out VRBO® is Vacation Rentals By Owner. There are a lot of properties on there that may be a little cheaper b/c the owners lease the condo/house for themselves rather than going through an agency.

Capt. Gary,

This will be the first year that i have been a certified diver while being in Gulf Shores. We are coming down in July and want to get in some diving. I have been told there are some cool things to see just around Perdido Bay pass. Can you recommend any dive sites/locations that are close to shore? Thanks.

Jason

There's plenty of condos down there that can be pretty affordable. My family group owns a condo with some friends so I go down there quite often. The diving there is iffy, though. I've always had good dives at the Perdido Bay Bridge and SOMETIMES there's good snorkeling on the jetties. Last time I was on the jetties the water was brown and foamy and frothy on top and I got stung by jellies and the vis was terrible. This led me to think someone had dumped a large ammount of waste, there was also various assortments of **** in the water. People just not taking care of it.

But, the very next day around the same time I dove the bridge and all was well, with only the bad vis because of low tide, and the jellies were out again. Dove the Whiskey Wreck the NEXT day and it was horrendous. The vis was 1.5ft at best and there were HUGE suspended particles swirling around blocking view. Plenty of jellies again and also a bunch of stingrays around, which aren't an issue.

But, I've also snorkeled and dove all those sites with 30+ ft vis and no jellies. Diving in the gulf surely is a crap shoot

Were these all shore dives without any type of guide or dive master? I know the Perdido Bay Bridge has fairly heavy boat traffic. Can you be more specific where you are diving? Are you doing your dives on the Gulf side or the water inlet side or just under/around the bridge? Any info is helpful. Thanks.
