Can SPG's go bad?

But it should not have a positive zero error, that is to say it should never tell you that there is air in the tank when there is not. Even a small zero error in the positive direction is reason to not use an SPG.
I have an almost empty tank... I might just breathe it down (in my basement) just to see if it will read pressure when there is no air left in the tank. (I live in colorado... so no moisture to worry about before I get the tank filled again.)
 
I usually see bad gauges after they get water in them or the oil leaks out and they stick. Any part of your gear can fail.
 
Every time you shut your tank down and bleed off the residual pressure, you have an opportunity to watch the response of your SPG.
