Divin'Hoosier:
FYI ... The 2006 AquaLung Legends (all 4 models) now also come with the dry valve type technology on the 1st stage. They call it ACD ... Auto Closure Device. Looks to be the same thing as Oceanic's DVT. Anybody have any idea whether theirs is the same, better or worse than Oceanic's technology? I'm surprised that I haven't read more about that technology here. It seems that it would be a very nice feature, but maybe I'm being nieve.

Yea, the French are infringing on the US Patent, and there is a lawsuit pending concerning this. I'll be curious to see if Aqualung has to stop, recall, or pay a royalty in the end.

I agree! Recently bought the FDX10/DELTA4 to replace my old DX4/DELTA3 and it is NOT as smooth or effortless. After 20 dives on it, I contacted Oceanic, just sent it in today for bench test & evaluation. Tech in CA swore it should be just as good or better than my old setup. We will see...

Time to give you an update. Reg was returned from factory authorized service under warranty. It was apparently out of adjustment in the intermediate pressure of the 1st stage. Now breathes effortlessly and smoothly. I am satisfied with it. Kudos Oceanic.

the purge valve failed

I'm unclear what this means. Can you explain a little more what happened with your reg? You've got a great regulator, by the way. If you're really going to hang it on your wall, I'd be happy to take it off of your hands for cheap :D

Sucks about the computer - they make great computers, too, it sounds like you've got a ****ty LDS!

Well it looks like my post was deleted. My two week old Delta4 DVT with FDX10 has an issue with the purge valve. (stuck open in 70 deg. F freshwater at 20' on the third dive with it.) I am sure this is a fine reg, but mine failed right away, and I am not too happy on how Oceanic is handling it. I had to begin posting my story on every scuba forum I could find before I get a response.

I have about 70 Dives on my Delta 4/FDX10. I've had it on cold, deep wrecks off NY, reefs in Fla and of course, at Dutch Spring. Right side up, upside down, anywhere in between, it breathes like a champ. It even breathed great when I accidentally breathed a tank down to 200psi

I like the inwater adjustability, and the DVT may have saved me from an overhaul, after I forgot to put on the dustcap before dropping it in a rinse tank.

There is no doubt in my mind that you can get that reg replaced by Oceanic in a NY minute with no problem. I don't think your problem is with Oceanic , it is with your LDS. You were told it looked like the reg was pried open, that happened at your LDS. Then you said it failed on a trip and your LDS did nothing about it. That is a problem with your LDS. Why aren't you talking about the LDS? What is the name of that LDS?

Back to the original post asking about Zeagle regs.... I was debating getting a Delta IV or a Zeagle. I ended up getting the zeagle. I've done about 28 dives with it so far, the deepest being about 30m. I noticed no different in breathing between 10 m and 30m. Very happy with it. The swivel on the delta IV is a nce feature though....

I only see one mention of it here in this thread, has anyone else noticed or had problems with the fact that the FDX10 first stage is built too "high". I recently bought this reg. I love the swivel although now a quick hose change/repair isn't as quick. Does anyone make a aftermarket LP hose with the oceanic swivel in different lengths (let's say 7' yellow hose)? It breathes great - face down, face up - awesome. I love the design of the first stage, but no matter how low I place the tank (cam band around shoulder of tank now) the FDX10 is hitting me in the back of the head. It doesn't seem to matter if I am wearing my BCD in the pool or my backplate in open water. I'm about 5'8" diving Al 80's and although quite flexible, I'm concerned that if I drill another hole in the top STA and slide the tank down the extra inch or so I need, I may not be able to get to the tank valve easily. I've also found the first stage to be extremely loud. We took it apart and rebuilt it just to check and everything is well within spec.

Honestly I haven't had that problem, then again another poster on Scubaboard had that complaint with the PX3 and he switched to a FDX10 and is now happy...
We have a 7 ft. hose (black however) that you can get, you can also convert the FDX10 t use a standard hose, you lose the swivel however.
How the heck is your BP/W holding your tank? The tank should adjust up and down on a STA without having to drill another hole. What are you using?

My belief is it is positioning with the tank...but obviously I can't see exactly what is happening.

Let me know if there is anything we can do.

Best,

Chris

I love my Delta 4/FDX10. Loved it so much, bought another. I use them on my doubles. I dive in cold water upper 40s to 50s (Seattle/Puget Sound). No problems whatsoever. Been in warm water with it too. I think Grim H's issues are problems with cylinder valves which are wider than normal. My OMS manifold has that issue. Had to switch the regs to DIN ($60/each). Compared to other regs I see, mine seem smaller than average (DIN makes them even more so), and the ports allow for low profile hose connections. I think the cold water/environment cover is as strong as anyone else's. I did smack one pretty good into a pier about a couple of weeks ago - no worse for wear (glad it wasn't my head). The adjustment knob works well. I like being able to essentially "turn off" off the second stage on my back-up 2nd stage. I like the swivel. If you want to use a long hose, Oceanic does sell a 7' hose with a swivel. It is a very easy breathing reg, and I think it will last a long time. Hopefully I won't have to replace it.
