can a H.P. pressure gauge hose stand up to constant long term pressure?

not when used with a vintage valve where the hp port is on the valve.
As happy diver was alluding too, most valves with an HP port have the port downstream of the actual valve. I have 3 (4?) That are like this and use them for my DH regs.
I have heard of some that are upstream of the valve, but have never seen one myself (and don't remember brands/years that were mentioned).
If you are unsure, then with the port plug removed close the hand wheel and try to blow through the dip tube.... If it's one of the alleged upstream ports you will get air out the port. If it's like mine and Happy Diver's, you wont be able to blow through it.

The plug usually has "Do Not Remove" stamped on it if it is pressurized when the valve is closed. Some USD valves are like this.
